WAVE - Thermal analysis
Capturing thermal behaviour of the engine correctly in 1D CFD is extremely important. It enables accurate calibration of the engine model, provision of accurate inputs for the cooling system and creates correct conditions for predictive physics models sensitive to the heat rejection, such as the predictive combustion models. WAVE and WAVE-RT include a powerful simple 2D structural conduction model for the engine structure, that includes the cylinder head, liner, piston and valves. Combined with the power of R-Desk Tuner for the calibration of heat transfer coefficients the model can deliver accurate thermal response for steady state operating points as well as transient operation in conventional and real-time applications.
