Senior Combustion Software Engineer
Prague, Czech RepublicAbout the company
Realis Simulation is a trusted partner to the world’s leading transport manufacturers, OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. We develop simulation software that delivers fast, repeatable and predictive results across established and emerging propulsion technologies, supporting the global journey to net-zero emissions.
Our products model all major propulsion technologies and allow organisations to rapidly test scenarios in a cost-effective and scalable way, reducing the need for physical hardware testing. Our tools are used to support design and calibration programmes across sustainable fuels, efficient powertrain systems, advanced transmission design, and optimised hybrid solutions.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Combustion Software Engineer to join the VECTIS 3D CFD product development team. In this role, you will design, develop, maintain, and continuously enhance combustion models within the VECTIS 3D CFD product, contributing directly to advanced simulation solutions used by customers worldwide.
The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge and hands-on experience in combustion modelling in one or more of the following areas: detailed chemical kinetics (particularly for e-fuel applications), combustion modelling within RANS and/or LES turbulence frameworks, and Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) simulations for automotive, marine, or power generation applications.
Main responsibilities
- Design and develop combustion models and software features for the VECTIS 3D CFD product
- Participate in customer discussions and collaborate with product and commercial teams to understand requirements and propose technical solutions
- Specify, design, and implement high-quality software code with minimal supervision, aligned with existing architecture
- Translate functional and technical requirements into clear design documentation and production-ready implementations
- Maintain and enhance existing software to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability
- Define and execute tests to verify code correctness and resolve issues identified through internal or external testing
- Write and maintain technical documentation for new features and enhancements
- Deliver projects in line with agreed specifications, timelines, and ISO 9000 quality standards
- Provide second-line technical support and user training, including occasional off-site support
- Act as a technical liaison with third-party vendors and external partners
