Pre-sales and Support Engineer

Tokyo, Japan

About the company

Realis Simulation is a trusted partner to the world’s leading transport manufacturers, OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. We develop simulation software that delivers fast, repeatable and predictive results across established and emerging propulsion technologies, supporting the global journey to net-zero emissions.

Our products model all major propulsion technologies and allow organisations to rapidly test scenarios in a cost-effective and scalable way, reducing the need for physical hardware testing. Our tools are used to support design and calibration programmes across sustainable fuels, efficient powertrain systems, advanced transmission design, and optimised hybrid solutions.

About the role

We are looking for a Pre-sales and Support Engineer to join our growing team in Japan. This role focuses on mechanical simulation for internal combustion engine (ICE) applications and combines technical customer support with pre-sales activities.

You will split your time between pre-sales support (40–60%) and technical customer support (40–60%), working closely with our commercial, product, and development teams. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges while also communicating technical value clearly and confidently to customers in the Japanese market.

Main responsibilities

  • Work closely with the commercial team in Japan to provide pre-sales technical support, including preparing and delivering technical presentations, software demonstrations, and proof-of-concept studies
  • Collaborate with sales colleagues to understand customer requirements and propose effective simulation solutions
  • Provide high-quality technical support to customers in Japan using Realis Simulation structural mechanics simulation software, including ENGDYN, FEARCE, FEARCE-Vulcan, PISDYN, RINGPAK, and VALDYN
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues to ensure successful customer adoption and usage of our tools
  • Deliver customer training sessions and technical workshops, covering best practices, advanced modelling techniques, and efficient workflows
  • Act as a technical bridge between customers and internal development teams, helping identify software improvements and feature requests
  • Apply knowledge of competitor tools (e.g. AVL Excite, GT-Suite, Amesim, Simpack) to provide technical comparisons and insights during customer discussions
  • Stay up to date with advances in simulation, internal combustion engines, and electrification technologies, bringing innovative solutions to customers

Who we are looking for?

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Native or business-fluent Japanese and professional working proficiency in English, with permanent or temporary residency and work permit in Japan
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field, ideally with a focus on computational methods or simulation
  • Proven experience in mechanical dynamics, multi-body dynamics, and/or finite element analysis, particularly for internal combustion engine applications
  • Hands-on experience with Realis Simulation products (ENGDYN, FEARCE, PISDYN, RINGPAK, VALDYN) is highly desirable, or strong experience with competitor tools such as AVL Excite, GT-Suite, Simpack, Abaqus, or ANSYS
  • Solid understanding of numerical methods, mechanical simulation, and engineering analysis techniques
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges
  • Excellent communication skills, with confidence presenting technical concepts to customers
  • A proactive mindset, curiosity, and enthusiasm for continuous learning and innovation

Why join us?

  • A highly technical and varied role, combining engineering, customer interaction, and commercial exposure
  • The opportunity to work with leading global OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers on cutting-edge simulation projects
  • A collaborative, supportive, and pragmatic working culture
  • High levels of autonomy and responsibility, with trust in your expertise
  • Exposure to advanced mechanical simulation technologies and future propulsion concepts
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Long-term stability within a company focused on engineering excellence and sustainable innovation
